AUDIOSLAVE's Free Speech
March 19, 2003THE DIXIE CHICKS faced a radio ban when they spoke out negatively about George Bush at a recent concert overseas, but no has raised an eyebrow over an AUDIOSLAVE concert Monday night (March 17). Just hours after President Bush announced his plans to invade Iraq, the band took the stage in Hollywood with message scrolled across the stage reading "How many Iraqis per gallon?" and "Somewhere in Texas, a Village is Missing an Idiot," according to MuchMusic.com. The anti-war sentiment comes as no surprise from the band comprised of three members of the now-defunct political outfit RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE. Tom Morello continues to be politically active by leading an organization called "Axis of Justice" which works to foster political awareness. On this tour, supporters have been spreading anti-war materials to the crowd during the show.
